Gary Compton is a longtime regulatory attorney and lobbyist who has operated in the political world for over four decades. For many years, Mr. Compton was a law partner in some of the largest law firms in Texas before joining Travis Lucas in the formation of Lucas | Compton.

Gary was the longtime personal attorney and lobbyist for energy magnate T. Boone Pickens and served Mr. Pickens’s interests for many years in Washington, DC and Texas. Gary also served as a corporate officer for Pickens’s Pioneer Corporation and Mesa Energy.

Gary has represented top national corporate clients in a variety of legal transactional matters. He has also represented major utilities, oil and gas producers, as well as alternative and renewable energy companies in many facets including acquisition and divestiture of oil and gas assets.

He has practiced before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the U.S. Department of Energy, and the U.S. Department of Interior as well as several state regulatory agencies and the United States Congress.

He has been appointed by several Texas governors to various Texas state commissions including the Interstate Oil Compact Commission.

Gary is a graduate of Baylor University School of Law and Texas Tech University.
