Problem
The iconic King Ranch of Texas was beset by a significant and contentious regulatory matter between the USDA and the Texas Department of Agriculture.
Approach
The King Ranch retained us to negotiate the matter between the federal and state government regulatory officials. First, we gathered all of the relevant regulatory officials together with the client in one place over several days and weeks. Second, we shepherded the discussions with the regulators and client to identify what the real issues were so as to achieve equity between the government and the client. Third, we worked with regulators to craft sensible regulation that would achieve both the public good and the client's business interest.
Results
The negotiated compromise allowed the King Ranch to continue to flourish as a state, national, and international agribusiness powerhouse.
